Al Shirawi Group employees took part in the 4km fun run alongside the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon on Friday 25th of January 2015. More than 110 of Al Shirawi’s employees took part in the event, hailed as the largest sporting event of its kind in the GCC region.
Navin Valrani, CEO of Al Shirawi’s Engineering Services Group, ran alongside the team in the 4-km run, said: “This event is a great platform to raise the awareness for the “Seeing is Believing” campaign. And at Al Shirawi, we always take time to motivate our employees to be a part of such exciting CSR initiatives. This has been a record year in terms of our participation.”
Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, a record field of more than 25,000 runners entered the marathon, the 10km Road Race and the 4km Fun Run on a day that saw the event beamed to millions of homes across the world. The biggest event of its kind in the Middle East, the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon drew a mixture of spectators, including Olympians Lord Sebastian Coe and Haile Gebrselassie.
